Words. Extract from Where We Work:
“What happens when you combine a 1930s “East-meets-West” theme with influences including the traditional Beijing hutong lanes, the ancient mansions of Xiguan in Guangzhou, and the old concession areas of Shanghai? You get McCann Erickson Guangzhou’s unique 1,123-square-meter site where the front of the house feels like 1930s American, but the back offices evoke 1930s Chinese.

Anthony Yeung, Managing Director of McCann Erickson Guangzhou, says, “Big creative ideas are the cornerstone of all effective ad campaigns, and it’s much easier to come up with memorable ideas when people can collaborate more easily. When we commissioned workspace design specialist M Moser Associates to undertake the design of our Grade A office building, we asked for a space which would enhance such cross-departmental collaboration.

Among the staff’s favorite design elements are the revolving door entrance and the 1930s “diner style” reception area cum staff “chill-out” space. Yeung explains, “The door sets the creative scene perfectly the moment people arrive at the office! Then there are the collaboration-enhancing workbenches that replaced our old L-shaped workstations. We also love the way our ’30s-style pantry and ‘McCann Ice House’ relaxation hub foster spontaneity and increase collaboration.
